Gail Town in real life... sorta!

Gail Town in real life... sorta...

I wanted a real live locale for Gail Town.  I thought it would add so much to the mindful immersion and contemplation.
*I figured I needed a place in the Oklahoma area to accommodate my Choctaw Chukka.
*And I desired a place in the Texas/New Mexico area, just because the landscape and history appeals to me.
*I also liked the idea of nearness to old Route 66, just because... it's cool.
So I started scouting land in the Texas/Oklahoma panhandle area, using Google Streetview.   I discovered that Texola, Oklahoma, is the westernmost town on Route 66, about a mile from the Texas border, close to New Mexico, too.
Sadly, Highway 40 bypassed Texola in the 1970s, pretty much choking the life out of it.  It is a near ghost town today.
*There remains the Tumbleweed Grill & General Store, Rd. 1240, 5th St., (580-286-3914).
*About 30 hearty residents are still living in Texola.

BUT!  Along 40, about a mile North of Texola,  there's some nice empty acreage, plenty of space for Gail Town!   PERFECT!
