Fr. D.'s Chapel - 9 - More 'visions'

As promised, I fiddled with the image using some enhancement software that I have, and...

Here we go!

And there you have it!  So far...

Maybe I should get back to some serious construction?

Fr. D.'s Chapel - 8 - More on the 'vision'

I'm intrigued with this little oddity of photography.
No special effects... the light just caught the hearth rug behind the little rear window of the chapel and made the effect I posted... the "scenery".

I cropped this image, and I plan on experimenting a bit with it, using some photo software I have, just to see what turns up..

Results soon.

Fr. D.'s Chapel - 5 - An Affirmation!

Let's have a mindful moment here!

So I was thinking about the idea that I'll have to invent a background story as to why a 128-year-old outpost chapel in Texas would be named after our Father D. from St. Paul's in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.  Wait a minute.  Let's just say that some things aren't anchored in place or time,… things like love, goodness, and human spiritual outreach.  They're in my mind, and therefore, they're everywhere and anywhere, any time, timeless.
Yeah, that's it!

That makes a great affirmation for asserting the fact that the most important time, place, or situation is in your mind!!!

Next time you're in a nice, peaceful state of meditation, or just relaxation...

Or maybe better yet, a state of anxious agitation...

Picture yourself in Father D.'s mystical little chapel and say with me...

Love, goodness, and the human spirit are not limited in place or time.

Fr. D.'s Chapel - 2

Houston, we have a blue-print.  No, make that 'Gailtown, we have a blueprint!

It's only a draft, and will likely change every few minutes after I begin in earnest.  Gailtown can't seem to employ a reliable assembly of architects or contractors, for some reason...

Next step, buy some building supplies...

Father D.'s Adobe Chapel - 1

During a home visit, my beloved Fr. D.  inspected the congested, jam-packed Gailtown and miraculously found room for a chapel.  He suggested moving some vehicles around, and scooting this here and that there, and...

There's room!

See?

So...
Coming up --- Father D.'s  Adobe Chapel!

Hot Air Balloon - 14 - Transvenge Redux

Somebody asked me for a printable version of my Transcendence Limerick.
You got it!

Quick recap... we were speaking of how transcendence is not only a mentally healthy and spiritually sophisticated thing to do, it can also be the best AND kindest revenge.  When somebody is trying to bring you down, nothing is more exasperating to them than seeing you rise above their foolishness and maintain your serenity.  AND...nothing is a kinder challenge to them to reconsider their negativity.
I wrote a Limerick about it, and I call edit... "Transvenge", and here it is in bulletin-board-worthy form.

Hot Air Balloon - 13 - "Ace"

To save you the trouble of scrolling back, I'll repeat an earlier post, in order to expand upon it.
From
Hot Air Balloon - 4 - Mindfulness
I began my last post by reflecting on what a great VEHICLE (pun intended and admitted) a balloon can be for mood management, and how it had great metaphorical (and mindfulness) potential.  I mentioned that one of my favorite novels (The House of Mirth, 1905, by the great Edith Wharton) describes the heroine's personal seal... a flying airship, with the word "Beyond!" beneath it.  That little passage really set some powerful undercurrents, I thought, of perseverence and transcendence, and the power of love.
Let me take an extended look at those three elements, as they relate to my journey (and maybe yours).
Perseverence...
It can be so hard, to keep going, in the face of adversity, loneliness, pain, confusion, all of that real life stuff.  I have always loved affirmations... little statements, pledges to oneself.  Some say they're a bit childlike... sure, why not... I think we can tackle our biggest grown-up challenges by appealing to the child within.   Yeah, I believe in that.  So I sometimes tell myself things like...
*One more step, then I'll rest
*One day at a time (yeah, I know, an oldie but a goodie)
*I belong here
*I am a part of Eternity

Transcendence...
When dealing with difficult people, the best revenge (in addition to the RIGHT THING TO DO) is to transcend, forgive, set aside, walk around...
Nothing is so enfuriating (or growth-inducing) to an obnoxious person than being transcended.  My favorite phrase?"Thanks for sharing".  Then I go about my way, doing what I know is right.  No, it's not easy or instant, but it's a plan for a journey.

Love...
What do you love, big or little!?   God?   Family?  Pets?   Nature?  Yourself?  Art?  Music?  Cooking?   Travel?  Games?  Movies?   All these things, and more, have a wonderful place in the Human experience.  There is Humanity in them, and therefore, they are worthy of Love.
Love is a great treasure, to embrace and uplift.

And as for my balloon?   I enjoyed a great visual imagery experience today, during a long car trip.  I was nervous about the trip, the destination, and the reverberations, but I settled down and imagined a balloon trip in Gailtown.
Lifting/transcending above worldly problems...  the pure sunshine, the lovely absence of wind... you don't feel the wind, because you are ON the wind... you're part of Nature and Eternity.
The dropping of ballast (metaphorical baggage)…  I enjoyed watching it plummet to the ground, as the heavy earthen sand-bags they are, obeying gravity, returning to Earth, as I rise higher.
As I said last time... letting the wind carry me (accepting what cannot be changed down there on terra firma) is so free-ing.  Where am I headed?  No place, every place, any place, every place.  Doesn't matter.  I'm in my mind.  In Gailtown, in my case.  Plenty of time to walk on the ground.  Later.

When you change the way you think,  you change your world.  I've heard that attributed to many, but... I love it.
Beyond!

Speaking of how transcendence is not only a mentally healthy and spiritually sophisticated thing to do, it can also be the best, kindest revenge.  When somebody is trying to bring you down, nothing is more exasperating to them than seeing you rise above their foolishness and maintain your serenity.  AND...nothing is a kinder challenge to them to reconsider their negativity.
I wrote a Limerick about it, and I call it...

Transvenge!

When difficult people impinge
On your happiness, do not cringe.
Transcendence is not just
The spiritual must...
It's also the greatest revenge.

Hot Air Balloon - 12 - "Ace"

And here is our pilot, "Ace"... make that Acette?  Acerina?  Aceletta?
I'm coming up with something on 'the view from the balloon'... might be an affirmation, might be a poem, might just be a paragraph or two.
But it will be on the concern of 'transcendence'.
