The Room to be Finished

This is the room whose roof will remain detached for viewing the inside.  1:24, as always.

First photo is the muy fabuloso 1940s lime green.  Hey, it's Gailtown, baby!

Second is my room plan.  Even *I* can barely read it!

Third is the future spot in Gailtown (maybe).  Of course, I still have doors, windows, all that.

Fourth is a closer look at the front view.

Back to the Rooms-for-Rent!

Back to the rooms...

I decided to go with a stucco finish for the exterior walls, so I mixed up a commonly-used off-white (acrylics) and applied it with a sponge. I was really pleased with the effect!
Next I will do the basics of external stuff... windows, doors, porch brackets, and front steps.

First photo... where the rooms will go in Gailtown (I think)
Second... front view
Third... the stucco finish

Roofs and... La Fuente Marie

I updated the fountain, in honor of a dear friend who's facing a big life change.  "The Marie Fountain".  I love you, Marie.

The roofs are pretty much finished, needing only the bracket attachment when I finally glue everything together.

Why do I love run-down stuff like these roofs?  I dunno, except that I've always had a fond nostalgia for that stuff... old buildings, ghost towns, rustic villages...

First photo, the roofs are in place.  Second, angles show textures. Third, the ultimate location of the rooms.

More Roofing...

About halfway done.
Tomorrow I'll add more texture to the galvanized steel, paint the gables (fronts, backs), porch roofs,  and the office roof.   Eventually, after I have glued roofs to rooms, I'll add brackets which will brace the "porch roofs" against the front of the rooms.
I think I'll be finished with this stage... the basic roofing, by tomorrow.

1:24, as always.

LEIF, YOU DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR ROOFING TODAY.  I HAD TO CARRY ALL THAT STEEL BY MYSELF!    :)

First photo ... current progress.
Second photo... the example of "old galvanized steel roofing" which I used as a guide.

Motel Underway...

Leif, I love your idea, but I really should make you help me with all this external building stuff!

Next - a Motel

Thank you, Leif, I'm going with your idea for a living place.

I'm gonna make a motel/rooms-for-rent place.   Leif sent me some photo-ideas that are great.  I can't make anything BIG (the dining room table is only so big!)  so I'll have to make it tiny and cute.

Here are Leif's pictures.  Great photos of typical little Route 66  Ma'n'Pa  places.  Very consistent with the Gail Town vibe of a dusty little Texas/Panhandle town on old Route 66.  I love it!

Here's my "draft" of the structure... three units and an office.   Humble, rustic... yes!
I've really got some work to do to make this a viable  structure.  I think I'll start with some papier mache (tissue, glue solution) reinforcement to make it sturdy.

Wish me luck, Leif!

What's Next?

I'm entertaining ideas.

These folks need a place to live, so...
Boarding house?
Motel?
Rental cabins?

Or... they also need to eat, so...
Food cart?
Farmer's market?
Taco Bell?  Kidding!

Suggestions welcome!

Gailtown as of today...

Fountain finished!

Continuing along the lines from the previous post, everything went together just fine!

Starting the fountain...

Hopefully this picture is worth a few hundred words.
I'm not sure what I'm doing, so I may yet trash the works, buttt...
If all goes well, I'll make the water spout big and splashy.

Meanwhile... tumbleweeds!

While I'm contemplating Gail Town's next addition... fountain, foodtruck, farmers' market...???
I'm scattering more tumbleweeds, all over the town. Hey, it's the Texas/Oklahoma panhandle!
The derrick...

Tumbleweeds?  Made from household dust-bunnies (DON'T SAY "EWWWWW!")... rolled in my palm, sprayed with hair-spray, trimmed to circular form... then glued in place...

Nexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxt????????????????????

Maybe Gail Town needs a fountain... *IF* I can figure a way to make the spouting water. Maybe dried clear glue? Shredded clear plastic? Maybe a combination of the two? Ideas, y'all???
If a fountain doesn't happen, a bird bath could still be pretty...
Some drawings/ideas...

Outhouse OUT!

Rustic outhouse done...  outhouse OUT!  Shingles, moon cut-out... functional door.
The rest of Gailtown in the shadows behind.

Outhouse progress

Inside is  done  Yes, very rustic.  That's how we roll in Gail Town.  Too much precision spoils my fun.  I'm a freestyle artist, not an architect.  UNLIKE my amazing SISTER, who is such a talented,  precise,  exacting, successful,  PROFESSIONAL architect!
Next... external roof, wood, base terrain, etc.

Outhouse (*cringe*)

My ol' man has been teasing/tormenting me for months about making an outhouse for his cycle shop.
OKAY, ALREADY, here ya go!
The beginnings are pretty self-explanatory.
He wanted a "two-holer"... apparently this is the Cadillac of such facilities...
Ewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
